About Us

Please see the bottom right of the blog to know more about our blog, but as for us, the family this blog is about:

We are a pretty standard, middle class American family.  Mom, dad, two kids and a dog.

I, Theresa, am a graduate of Rutgers University.  I work part-time as a Reference Librarian at our local public library.  A job that I love!  Not only because I love books, but because I work with great people, my boss is amazing and I am able to take my girls to work with me.

I am an avid reader, an occasional writer, a yoga enthusiast, a hiker, a nature lover and a swimmer.  I love to knit and do needlecrafts, cook and decorate and entertain.  I began this blog as a writing exercise and it has become so much more...I have made friends, learned tons and it gives me a place to chronicle our family's life and work on my photography skills--because the days are long, but the years are short!

My husband, Jason, is an arborist. He loves trees and plants and flowers.  He is an avid gardener and nature lover.  He feels a strong responsibility to the environment and volunteers on various environmental organizations and encourages our family to reduce our carbon footprint on a daily-if not hourly-basis.  He is also an avid reader and a photography enthusiast.  He is currently furthering his education with on-line courses.

Our daughters are 9 & 11.  As of right now, we have decided to have them remain somewhat anonymous and not to use their names.  However, I will tell you that our eleven year old is a gifted artist who loves to read, her favorite books are the Mother Daughter Book Club series by Heather Vogel Frederick and The Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan.  She loves to make things out of fimo clay, draw and paint.  She loves music, especially Taylor Swift!  She is also a talented seamstress, who spends hours creating things with scraps of fabric.  She recently sewed her own duvet cover and has created purses out of favorite old t-shirts that no longer fit.

And our nine year old, P,  loves American Girl dolls and creating furniture and rooms and homes for them.  She loves to make videos.  She also loves to read, her current favorites are the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series.  She is also very interested in fashion and always sketching outfits.  She also has an excellent photographic eye and really enjoys accompanying her dad on photo shoots--we recently gave her her very own camera!

Our dog, Ollie or Oliver Bellows, or more recently (since we started homeschooling) Ollie the Homeschool Dog, is a 13 year old gray brindle cairn terrier who is very spoiled and very loved.  He sleeps on the furniture and loves to go for car rides.  He has a tough job of patrolling our yard for squirrels and showing the critters that live in the woodpile that he is the boss!

This blog is about everything: our life, our family, our thoughts, our hopes and our dreams.  I try to keep it real and include the bad and messy stuff of life as well as the good and beautiful things.  We do homeschool, but that does not define us, nor does it define this blog.

Thank you for visiting with us!
We hope you come back often and please post comments!
We love to hear what you have to say!
