My Mother-in-Law's Chili

My mother-in-law passed away 3 years ago, but she always made chili. I can't think of chili without thinking of her! This was her recipe.

Marsha's Chili

Ingredients
1 lb. ground beef
1 onion chopped
1 beef bullion cube
1 can diced tomatoes
1 small can tomato sauce
1 can red kidney beans
2 garlic cloves, pressed
1 tbsp. chili powder
1 tsp. garlic powder
salt & ground pepper

Toppings
shredded  cheddar cheese
chopped raw onion
chopped iceberg lettuce
chopped fresh tomatoes
sour cream
scallions
black olives
Fritos (my in laws call it "Tacos in a Bowl" when they add Fritos)

Preparation
Brown ground beef in Dutch oven.  Drain most of fat.  Add chopped onion and garlic, brown.  Add bullion, chili and garlic powder.  Add tomatoes and beans.  Cover. Cook on low for 15-20 minutes to let flavors meld.

Serve with the toppings, let each person dress their dish their own way.  Serve with either corn bread or buttered corn tortillas.  Also, a staple in my in-law's house with chili are buttered Saltines.
