State by State

We had a great time exploring the history of Virginia this summer.  The girls and I spent weeks learning about Pocahontas, Jamestown, Yorktown and Colonial Williamsburg.  And then when we got there to see it...it was wonderful!  The girls confidently answered the tour guides' questions, sometimes astonishing the tour guides that they knew the answers!

Jason has been with his company long enough that he will start getting an additional week of vacation, so we are thinking about picking one state each year, learning all about their history and then going there.  We will do New Jersey, the state where we live, during the fall, winter and spring this year.  We will also do Historic Philadelphia, Valley Forge and Gettysburg, PA. We are very fortunate to live in an area so rich with history.

Jason has suggested Massachusetts, since it is a natural next step, we could visit Plimouth, Boston Harbor, the city of Boston, etc.  Maybe hit Mystic on the way up!  A & P both want to go to Tennessee because it is the home of Miley Cyrus!  lol...although I have to admit that I would LOVE to go to Nashville and Memphis is on Jason's list!  I wanted to take the girls to Newport, Rhode Island (one of my favorite places in the world) while they were still young enough to fantasize about living in the Breakers.

We'll see...

Where have you gone?
Where would your family like to go?
