A Wonderful Vacation!

We are having a most wonderful vacation!

I love American history.  I love visiting historical sites.  I have many fond memories as a child of visiting historical sites, 18th and 19th century homes and villages, battlefields and museums.  (We had our wedding pictures taken in front of the historic Princeton Oak on the Princeton Battlefield).  I am super excited that my girls are getting to the age when we can start taking them to see these places that were so significant in the shaping of our great nation.  I really believe that if you understand what came before, it will help you to appreciate and respect not only the past, but the present and future as well.

We have taken the girls to several small historic villages in the New York-New Jersey area and they always enjoyed it.  Like me, they are able to envision themselves living in the villages, what life was like.  We are really fortunate to live in an area with so many living history museums and farms and villages.  My girls have carded wool, milked goats and cows by hand, played hoop and stick and other 18th and 19th century games.

This year we decided to go to Williamsburg, Virginia.  We spent weeks and weeks and weeks studying the history of Williamsburg.  We got these great Bounce tickets for Colonial Williamsburg, Busch Gardens and Water Country USA on the Busch Gardens website.  You save 20% by buying on-line and you get free parking.  These passes pay for themselves if you visit two of the parks one time each...they are such an incredible bargain....leaving money for shopping

 and awesome dinners

 and fabulous hotels!!!
