When we bought our home 7 years ago, we had this small, oddly shaped patio that barely fit a grill on it. One of our first home improvement projects was to have my brother (who is a high school English teacher, who at the time, was doing odd jobs in the summers to save to buy his own home; now he works on his own home in the summers) build us a deck.
