For the girls birthdays,
one year we do a party
and
the next year we do a family outing,
of the birthday girl's choice.
of the birthday girl's choice.
This year, for A's birthday,
we suggested a weekend in Boston or Newport or Philadelphia,
but all A wanted
was to spend the weekend
with
Uncle Tom.
We decided to go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art,
one of my Uncle's favorite places :-)
We love the energy of Manhattan.
The girls were posed with me and at the last moment they ran away...
There is a pyramid that was taken apart in Egypt and then re-built in the Met...it is AMAZING!
The girls and I could not get over how ancient Egyptian jewelry looks like what we would wear today!
now we are studying Medieval Times.
I am grateful that the girls got to see the contrast between the art of the two periods.
My husband takes cool pictures.

The girls literally gasped when they saw Perseus with Medusa's head.
Prior to this trip, we read The Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler by E. Konigsburg,
I was disappointed that the museum staff did not know where the bed was.
We think this was it.
I took this photo inspired by Karen's cotton field...
we take the area where we live for granted and so often don't realize that others may not know what it looks like. This is New York City.
