40 Bags in 40 Days

I got a call early this morning from a good friend saying, "You didn't put anything on your blog about 40 bags in 40 days!"

I actually got the idea from Sarah on Clover Lane.  Since Sarah is not doing 40 bags in 40 Days this year, I thought I would host a linky this month for anyone who wants to do 40 bags in 40 days and Maybe we can all encourage each other to keep going, post updates and encouraging tips.  What do you think?  I would love for you to link up!

Over the 40 days of Lent, you commit to filling one bag a day with 'stuff'.  Go through closets, drawers, storage areas...whatever.  I find it helpful to either plan to make a trip to the Goodwill once  week OR to arrange for Lupus or the Veterans to come to my house once a week to pick things up.

My closets and drawers are in pretty good shape--though I could go through the girls' stuff--after doing this for two years.  This year, my plan is to conquer my attic.  I have thrown so many things up there over the years.  There are bags and bags of stuffed animals, decorative items that I know I will never use in my home again, toys my kids have long outgrown, boxes that we saved from things we bought just in case we needed to return the items, etc.  I plan to spend a few minutes up there every day getting rid of stuff.

It only takes a few minutes a day to fill a bag!  You will be able to donate useful items to people in need--what better way to show the spirit of Lent?
