Tybee Island

We loved Tybee Island!

We live in New Jersey and so we have access to the Atlantic Ocean and beaches and I wondered if it was worth it to drive 13 hours to a beach house when I could rent one MUCH closer to home.  But, we can get to the beach in a half hour and so, it never makes much sense to us to rent a house at the Jersey shore.

The water ...
was SO warm.  You could just walk right in without hesitation or that sharp realization of cold hitting you.  There were waves but they were gentle enough to body surf without having to brace yourself as you do at the Jersey shore.

And we saw dolphins swimming just a few yards from where we were!

Tybee Island, Georgia
Tybee Island has a Nature Center that provides great information on Loggerhead Turtles.  We were fortunate to be part of a "Release Party" and to watch the tiny baby turtles be scooped into the waves :)
we LOVED knowing there was a Loggerhead Nest on our beach

Jason checked off a few things on his bucket list in addition to trying good, old-fashioned Southern Barbecue, like doing yoga on the beach and running on the beach.

These dolphins literally swam right past where we were swimming just moments before!

the best part of any vacation is time together as a family

Jason will do anything for his girls

One evening, we strolled downtown for ice cream and souveniers.

Jason was psyched when he realized we would be there for the full moon, the moon the Native Americans refer to as the Sturgeon Moon.

these swings were a perfect place to just sit quietly and read a book :)

unlike the Jersey shore, the 12th street beach on Tybee was not very crowded EVER

My book lover :)
